When I look into the mirror what is it I see?
I see myself, obviously. But who is it that I am?
How do I find myself?
I don’t want to answer that,
Perhaps because I don’t like the answer.
I find myself stuck in a cage
Trapped by the walls of my mind
I find myself sitting in the cage
Spinning in monotonous circles
A constant cycle of deranged confusion
I no longer know up from down
Or right from wrong
I find that I believe only
What I want to believe
Filling my mind with false hope
As I walk in monotonous circles
Stuck in the cage of my mind
In a constant cycle of deranged confusion
The world is turning,
But I don’t even notice
Perhaps because I’m spinning too fast
I built the bars myself, the cage is my own
A result from my confused misdirected emotions
And the laws and regulations of the world
I see myself lost in a pit of darkness
With only a cage to center myself
A cage of darkness
And I’m spinning, spinning
In monotonous circles
Around and around and around
A constant cycle of deranged confusion.
What does love know of life?
And life of love, nor I of either
What is the purpose of the heart?
If it only destroys any order and sense
That this world holds for its prisoners
I have felt the ice cold touch of love
I have felt the lonely emptiness it holds
Misdirected.
Unrequited.
Love.
And now I am all alone.
